You know, the last time this happened, I lost almost everything.
My pictures.
My projectile weapon.

All of it.
There were so many memories that just fell apart, and after that? I just didn't care anymore.

It's kind of like I told Albel.
I don't believe anything's eternal.

A lot of my faith has fallen.
This earthquake didn't help.

Entropy. Everything ends, at some point or another.

That's true.

It'd be nice to hold something in other people, though, without the inevitable notion that what can go wrong will go wrong.

I don't believe anything's eternal.

Yet how I wish for the contrary to be true.

Looks like you're alright. Anything damaged or missing in this earthquake?

Not that I've noticed. I didn't really bring anything with me from home, though.

Come to think of it, I hope they don't have any sort of earthquake while I'm here...

As long as you're safe. Objects may come and go, but those memories don't disappear so easily.

Faith is an odd thing. Sometimes it comes back at a moment's notice, other times...

Other times it disappears.

I used to think that it was something you could always have, even when other people didn't have it. Being shut down by others, however, breaks that spirit, which I guess is what causes faith to disappear, as you put it.

Maybe it takes being with another who doesn't have faith to regain that.

True. I was sheltered and protected, for a very long time. Perhaps that is what made me believe that faith was always able to renew itself.

However... faith... not having it is not necessarily bad. It is possible to attain happiness without it, at least that is what I believe.

Perhaps. I hope you find whatever it is that you may be look for, m'lady.

I'll have to think on it some more. You're the first person I've heard say such a thing and as much as someone else might read it as being... not altogether cheerful, it somehow makes me feel better.

Thanks a lot for giving me some of your thoughts.

Oh! You can call me Rinoa. It might be easier than this 'm'lady' stuff.

Too much optimism is just as bad as too much pessimism. Being a realist is not being a pessimist. It is being prepared for what may come your way.

Faith... isn't all you need to make you happy.

You are very much welcome, Lady Rinoa. I am called Ramza--Ramza Beoulve. My elder brother, Zalbag, has been here longer than I. Mayhap you know of him?

That's true. I have a friend who often seems a little too happy. She means well, though. I guess like all things, you just need a balance. That's some pretty heavy wisdom.

Hm... I think I have to make myself happy, rather than using my faith in people to keep me that way.

Ramza Beoulve... Oh! You're his little brother?? He teaches one of the magic classes, and while I don't have him, I at least know of him. I saw him here when I first arrived. I hear good things about him too.

I bet if you're his little brother, you're probably just as great as he is too!

Perhaps that is just how she deals with things. No one is wrong or right about how they deal with something. It is what is best for them, in the end.

Indeed--though sometimes it may seem so very hard to do so. I believe it is possible, though.

Ah-aha. Um, yes. That indeed is my elder brother.

I excel in swordplay, however my magic is not bad, either. I do hope I will only continue to improve during my time here.
